What treatment is provided free of charge?
If you meet the conditions for NHS treatment outlined above, you will be entitled to the following health services free of charge:
Treatment by a General Practitioner (GP) and most other GP services
Treatment in a hospital (emergency and non-emergency services)
If you qualify for NHS treatment (see above), you are entitled to free contraceptives. You can also get advice on birth control from a Family Planning Clinic (FPC). FPCs also provide cervical smears and pregnancy tests.
The use of condoms, as a form of contraception can stop the spread of sexually transmitted diseases between partners as well as preventing pregnancy. You can ask your GP for free condoms or buy them easily from chemists, supermarkets, public toilets and petrol stations.
