What kinds of English courses are on offer?
There are more English language courses on offer in the UK than anywhere else in the world. You can study from complete beginners level to fluency, and choose between courses aimed at academic or vocational use. From intensive short courses to longer-term options, you are sure to find a study programme that fits your agenda.

Most English-language schools do not require academic qualifications as an entry requirement. The following list should give you an indication of what kinds of courses you could choose from:

General English Courses:
Courses at all levels to improve the general English language skills of the student.
English for Academic Use:
Courses to assist students with academic study taught and assessed in English.
Equip students with the language skills to write essays in English, listen to lectures and take notes, read academic papers and use libraries and computers, as well as general and social English. Sometimes include study-specific vocabulary.
Pre-University English Courses:
Courses to prepare students planning to study in the UK who have been asked to demonstrate a minimum level of English.

Support/ In-session English Courses:
Courses to assist international students during their studies.

Courses to assist students requiring English to pursue certain careers such as business, tourism and law.
Equip students with particular vocabulary and skills required for specific jobs such as correspondence, report writing, making presentations and other forms of professional communication.
English Plus Courses:
English is taught as a part of a course of academic study or vocational training for professional qualifications.
Seasonal or Vacation Courses:
Summer and Easter courses often geared to those under the age of 16.
Equip students with English skills to compliment study in their home countries and an opportunity to practice and participate in activities such as sport and sightseeing.
